Kicking Off National Safety Month With Hard To Believe Injury Stats
June has been declared National Safety Month, and across the U.S. the National Safety Council and thousands of organizations are working together to meet the goal of National Safety Month which is NO 1 GETS HURT.
National Safety Month focuses on reducing leading causes of injury and death at work, on the road and in our homes and communities. In addition to promoting safety across the board, each week focuses on a specific aspect of safety and the steps that businesses and individuals can take to stay safe. This year the topics are as follows:
Week 1: Emergency Preparedness
Week 2: Wellness
Week 3: Falls
Week 4: Driving
To highlight the need for safety, the National Safety Council has provided the following statistics to help shed a light on the need for workplace safety.
Every 3 minutes, someone dies from something 100% preventable. National Safety Month is a call to action to reverse this trend.
Every 40 seconds, someone in the U.S. dies of a heart attack. Is your workplace ready to respond?
Did you know slips, trips and falls are the 3rd leading cause of death in the workplace?
