Did you know that more than one million children die annually from hazards associated with going barefoot? And that 300 million children around the world do not own footwear?
At Arbill, we are on a mission to collect gently worn sneakers and cleats and distribute them through our 501(c)(3) non profit, Pay it Forward Sports, to help children around the world who otherwise would go barefoot.
Pay it Forward Sports, started in 2015 when my then 11-year old son, Austin joined us on a family trip to Africa. While in Tanzania, Austin was invited to play soccer with children from the Tumaini Junior school, and quickly noticed his fellow athletes were barefoot. Austin asked my husband, Brad, and me, if there was a way to get these children cleats. With a little advice from his parents, Austin and his two siblings, Logan and Addison, as well as his cousins Riley and Mason, asked everyone they knew to donate a pair of sneakers or cleats. Word spread and within a couple of months the Copeland kids and their cousins had collected more than 3,000 pairs. The footwear was sent via cargo ship to Tanzania, and Pay it Forward Sports was officially launched.
Since then we have continued to collect shoes and cleats and need your help to expand the mission and impact!
Thank you for your assistance, and as always, have a safe day!
